HealthAlliance Announces Partnership with Live Well Kingston
Kingston, N.Y. – June 10, 2014 – HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley®
is proud to announce their partnership with Live Well Kingston, a
city-endorsed coalition coordinated by Cornell Cooperative Extension of
Ulster County focused on improving, promoting and supporting healthier
lifestyle choices in Kingston. The coalition is building a better
Kingston to walk, bike, eat and play.
HealthAlliance is a founding partner of the coalition, providing
sponsorship to support Live Well Kingston in its development of
community workgroups that will act to advance the health of the Kingston
community.The goal is to help Kingston residents achieve improved
health through greater access to healthy food and opportunities for
physical activity. HealthAlliance will take an active role in guiding
the workgroups, campaigns and plans to implement this mission.
"This is another example of an important investment in a city-wide
partnership that is building the capacity of our community to create
changes that encourage people to make healthy lifestyle choices," said
the city of Kingston Mayor Shayne Gallo. "The Live Well Kingston
Coalition and its member organizations are enthusiastically moving the
city toward being a place where healthy eating and active living become
part of our culture."
The partnership with Live Well Kingston was completed as part of
HealthAlliance's efforts to keep people healthier and out of the
hospital. Through this coalition, HealthAlliance can help deliver health
and wellness opportunities, giving residents of the Kingston community
greater access to healthy lifestyle services.
"This partnership between HealthAlliance and Live Well Kingston can
help organize a greater assortment of community resources to improve the
population's health, a central tenant of HealthAlliance's redesign
efforts," said Dave Scarpino, president and CEO of HealthAlliance. "We
are excited to join this collaborative relationship with community
members, organizations and business to increase and promote health and
wellness."
The next coalition meetings will be held on July 9, 2014 at 10 a.m.
and 6 p.m. at Cornell Cooperative Extension in the Kingston Plaza across
