The Margaretville Hospital Mental Health Program, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), provides comprehensive mental health services to children and youth in Delaware County.

School-based behavioral health services are available to students and their families in the Margaretville, Andes, Downsville and Roxbury school districts. Delaware County families no longer need to travel long distances to obtain advanced and evidence-based treatment to improve their children and youth’s mental health and well-being.

The Margaretville Hospital Mental Health Program provides enhanced access to mental healthcare from onsite licensed clinical social workers and a psychiatric nurse practitioner, and consultations are available, when needed, with board certified psychiatrists via telepsychiatry, one of WMCHealth’s state-of-the-art telemedicine services. This combined service enhances access to mental healthcare from one of the largest providers of behavioral health services in New York State, WMCHealth.

Services for mental health conditions including anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, attention deficit disorders (ADD and ADHD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and adjustment disorders, among other conditions, are available conveniently and confidentially for patients in grades K-12.

Services and treatment provided by our team of licensed clinical staff can include:

  • Initial intake assessments
  • Individual psychotherapy
  • Family psychotherapy
  • Group psychotherapy
  • Crisis intervention
  • Complex care management
  • Referral for psychiatric evaluation when clinically indicated
  • Medication management

A team of licensed social workers and a psychiatric nurse practitioner are available to students and their families in the participating school districts.. When clinically indicated, a board certified psychiatrist on staff at Westchester Medical Center is available via telepsychiatry, one of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network’s (WMCHealth) state-of-the-art telemedicine services.

Licensed social workers from Margaretville Hospital are available onsite in the Margaretville, Andes, Downsville and Roxbury school districts, providing Delaware County students and their families with access to individualized, face-to-face mental healthcare within their own schools.

Students can be referred for mental healthcare by school personnel, including their guidance counselor, school psychologist, nurse and teachers. Referrals also are accepted from a student’s parents or medical provider, as well as community based agencies or the students themselves.

Upon completion of the referral and consent to treatment, students meet with a licensed social worker for initial assessment and evaluation for the most appropriate treatment plan based on their individual needs. Services provided by our team of licensed clinical social workers can include:

A psychiatric nurse practitioner can provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management when clinically indicated, and is available onsite at Margaretville Hospital, in the participating schools, and/or via telepsychiatry, one of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network’s (WMCHealth) state-of-the-art telemedicine services.

A board certified child and adolescent psychiatrist on staff at Westchester Medical Center is available via telepsychiatry for consultation and treatment when clinically indicated.
