Coronavirus (COVID-19): Maintaining a Safe and Effective Care Environment

A safe and effective care environment is our highest priority, and Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) hospitals and medical practices have undertaken the necessary steps to protect our patients, visitors and workforce as the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation evolves.

Beginning Wednesday, March 24, 2021, Mountainside Residential Care Center will resume in-person, socially distanced visitation – by appointment.  To do so, Mountainside Residential Care Center must continue to meet the specific guidelines outlined by the New York State Department of Health, including, but not limited to: compliance with all New York State and Federal requirements; access to adequate COVID-19 PCR testing; having written protocols in place for staff and visitor screening and resident monitoring; and the absence of any new onset of COVID-19 among staff or residents for a period of no less than 14 days. Here’s how to make an appointment for in-person visitation:

To Schedule A Visit Appointment

  • Call Mountainside Residential Care Center at 845.586.1800, ask for Reception to schedule an in-person visit with your loved one.
  • During this call, you will be asked to answer COVID-19 screening questions such as:
    • Are you experiencing any COVID-19 Symptoms: Fever, sore throat, malaise, cough, shortness of breath, loss of sense of taste and/or smell, muscle or body aches, headache, nausea or vomiting, congestion, runny nose or diarrhea?
    • Have you been diagnosed with COVID-19 or exposed to anyone recently who did test positive?
    • Have you traveled outside of NYS or to any designated state under the travel advisory?
  • You will be asked to bring proof of:
    • A negative COVID-19 PCR test within the past 72 hours OR
    • Written proof of completed Covid-19 vaccination series - no less than 14 days prior to date of visit AND within 90 days of the last vaccination.
      • If the completed vaccine series is 91 days or greater from the last vaccine, then a negative COVID-19 PCR Test is required
      • Rapid COVID-19 Tests are not valid for in person visitation at Mountainside Residential Care Center
      • COVID-19 PCR Tests can be scheduled by calling Margaretville Hospital at 845.586.2631, Ext 3141.  At this time, diagnostic results can take up to five days.

Visit Guidelines

  • Visits will be scheduled Monday through Friday from 1:00 pm-4:00 pm
  • Visits will be limited to 20 minutes
  • Two visitors per resident will be allowed
  • Anyone who is 16 years of age or younger must be accompanied by someone 18 years of age or older
  • Visits will take place in a designated area, located on the first floor.

Other Visitation Guidelines
