Community, Hospital Leaders to Be Honored at Tulip Ball

news item

KINGSTON, N.Y. -- Feb. 22, 2017 -- The HealthAlliance Foundation will recognize community and hospital leaders at its 28th annual Tulip Ball April 29. Frank and Beverly Finnegan are the 2017 Tulip Ball honorees, Sandra Horan will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice will be presented with the Community Service Award.

Frank Finnegan, a retired IBM business unit executive, and Beverly Finnegan, a retired American Cancer Society regional vice president, are longtime residents and Kingston community supporters. They have worked to raise funds for local nonprofits by helping organize bicycling events and golf tournaments, including the Michael B. Finnegan Golf Classic, named in memory of their son. The golf classic supports cancer care at HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth). Beverly Finnegan is currently chairwoman of the Woodland Pond at New Paltz board and a member of the HealthAlliance Foundation and Ulster Community College Foundation boards. Frank Finnegan is on the Wiltwyck Golf Club board.

Sandra Horan, a bachelor's prepared registered nurse, is HealthAlliance's Chief Nursing Officer. She has dedicated 40 years of service to the healthcare system and its predecessor Kingston Hospital, including three years as Executive Director of Margaretville Hospital, a member of WMCHealth. The Tulip Ball will not only hail her success in overseeing HealthAlliance clinical programs but will serve as a farewell celebration. Horan is retiring May 1.

The Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice, an annual festival of vocal music, has brought internationally renowned vocalists and arts patrons to Ulster County. The 7-year-old festival, which grew out of a single concert in 2009 to raise money for a local playground, is a four-day celebration that attracts more than 5,000 music lovers a year.

"All of our 2017 award recipients have used their talents to enhance wellness and healing in our community," said foundation Executive Director Steffen T. Kraehmer. "The HealthAlliance Foundation is proud this year to honor the accomplishments of Beverly and Frank, Sandy, and the Festival of the Voice, represented at our event by Maria Todaro and Louis Otey."

The ball, at the Lazy Swan Golf and Country Club Village in Saugerties, is the foundation's annual fundraising gala. Proceeds benefit HealthAlliance programs, facilities and services.

Event reservations are $210 and can be made by calling 845-334-2760 or by visiting FoundationUpdate.org.
